Nationality: Born and raised on Mars’ moon Phobos.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Hampshire is about five foot ten, lean, and built to run. His long legs help propel him over any surface, and his relatively light build helps him move quickly. His shoulder length brown hair  often gets in his face while he is working, and his milk-brown eyes carry a permanent, mischievous glint in them. His skin is lightly tanned, and his face is surprisingly scare-free.

Why He was Recruited: Before he joined Freelancer, Hampshire worked as a notoriously efficient Private Investigator on Phobos. He excelled at both uncovering and hiding information for his clients, and often ended up working for high end and supper high value clients.  This skill in covering up records was noticed by the Director, who would need someone to hid the information regarding the splitting of Alpha. This particular skill set assured NH a part in Project Freelancer after he was sentenced to serving time in the military.

Personality: NH’s personality could be best described as ‘enthusiastic.’ Hampshire suffers from clinical depression, mainly due to his belief that humanity’s “Golden Age” was sometime in the 22nd century, and he can never relive such glory. To counter this depression, NH simply tries to make everyone as upset as he is, usually by pissing off everyone he meets in any way possible. However, Hampshire never knows when to stop, and these taunts often piss his victims off to the point where they want to beat him up. Which they usually do. New Hampshire is a frequent visitor of the medical wing.

Hampshire is also rather impulsive on the job, a rather bad trait for a saboteur. He possess the unfortunate tendency to detonate charges prematurely for no better reason than being bored, unlike other mentally disturbed Freelancers. This has led to so many blown missions that the Director issued a standing order that New Hampshire is not to infiltrate and set charges without an accomplice. Naturally, Hampshire makes the experience as painful as possible for his babysitter.

Relationships: Having a love of annoying people, New Hampshire’s best friend naturally had to be Wyoming. The two agents love nothing more than tag-teaming and working together to piss off everyone in the group. Wherever one is, the other is surely nearby. On the other hand, no one quite understands NH’s relationship with agent Missouri. The two seem to work together in a mutually beneficial relationship. Hampshire serves as a crash test dummy in Mizz’s experiments, and Mizz gives NH weapon upgrades, and serves as punching bag for whenever NH is pissed. New Hampshire has a tendency to be seen hanging around with Agent California, though not by his choice, as the female agent has a tendency to stalk him. He spends a great deal of time with Agent Wyoming, who serves as a tag-team partner for insulting the members of Project Freelancer.


Armor: Hampshire wears a downscaled version of the Recon MJLONR Armor. His helmet has been upgraded with Jackal Visor technology, allowing him to zoom in on targets and locate weak points in armor and technology, much like a Jackal Sniper. He often carries a bandolier which houses a wide variety of grenades. His armor is Ice Blue with Crimson details.

Armor Enhancement: New Hampshire’s armor enhancement is a system of Hydraulic Assistance. A system of microscopic pipes integrated into his armor allow water to be pumped at extremely high pressure to certain parts of his armor. Basically, this allows Hampshire’s armor to be controlled by a foreign entity, usually an AI. The water pressure can be strategically applied to help move his arms to help enhance his aim or, more often than not, prevent him from pushing a button that should not be pushed. This system was installed in order to make sure Hampshire did not resume any criminal activities, causing Hampshire to loath this audition. However, his frequent favors with Agent Missouri have caused the engineer to loosen the integrity of the hydraulic system, thus giving Hampshire more control.

AI: New Hampshire was given the AI fragment Lambda, Alpha’s protocol. Lambda is purely a by-the-book AI, and disagrees with any action without taking at least twenty different scans. His avatar is a 19th century London Police Officer that is tinted orange. Lambda’s cautious tendencies tend to piss off NH, who would often charge in, guns blazing. However, Lambda has saved NH a few times, but hardly enough for Hampshire to see Lambda’s advice as prudent, which really is unfortunate.

Specialization: New Hampshire is an amazing hacker and private investigator, but he was by far more proficient at sabotage, mainly due to his uncanny ability to sense exactly what he should damage in order to destroy a system with minimal effort. However, Hampshire is incredibly impulsive, which has led to the premature detonations and blown operations. Lambda was installed to help prevent this problem.

Preferred Weapons and Fighting Techniques: New Hampshire implements a form of Tae-Kwan-Do that was modified to aim for an opponent’s wind pipe when utilizing hand to hand combat. This is successful to varying degrees, as whenever he faces someone his size or smaller, New Hampshire is extremely proficient at dispatching them, but when faced with an opponent large then him, Hampshire must improvise, something he is not exactly a master at doing. He prefers to utilize a combat knife whenever one is available.

When armed, New Hampshire loves using a Battle Rifle that has been heavily upgraded, thanks to a certain midget in Mint-Green armor. His accuracy is proficient, but it tends to fall when on the run. For more saboteur-esque operations, he pulls out a Grenade Launcher modified to fire literally any type of grenade. Frag, Plasma, Flash bang, you name it, the weapon can fire it. In general, he is the definition of an average Freelancer, when it comes to combat, at least.

Backstory: Hampshire grew up in a shifty part of New Detroit, Phobos, one of Mars’ moons. He spent a considerable deal of his spare time with computers, and soon became proficient in the art of hacking. These skills eventually caught the attention of a local crime syndicate who needed someone who could hide a plethora of illegal transactions and could hack high-security systems. Hampshire preformed masterfully, and hacked several governmental databases before the UNSC decided to crack down on the syndicate. Hampshire was tried and found guilty, but as punishment he was conscripted to Project Freelancer. He now serves out his punishment, determined to make it as painful as possible for his punishers.
